WHEN AND HOW TO WEAR MENS’ WATCHES.
1. CHOOSE YOUR DAILY WATCH.
An everyday watch should be sturdy and neutral. Because you’ll most likely be wearing it when you’re accomplishing your daily activities, work, driving or even relaxing you’ll need something that can take the daily stress of your routine. Generally, a stainless steel watch is recommended by Wrist Society as this type of watch can withstand your daily grind.
2. CHOOSE YOUR FORMAL WATCH.
A formal watch is generally worn at events that require formal wear ie. weddings, dinners parties, anniversaries etc. Your formal watch should be complimented by some sort of precious metal – silver gold, platinum and it’s important to note, the diameter of the timepiece should not exceed 1.5 inches. Proper Wrist Society etiquette dictates your formal watch should feature an analogue display and have a subtle tone to your formal wear.
3. PROPER TIME FOR A SPORTS WATCH.
Modern technology has allowed for some pretty nifty advances to watches. Wrist Society recommends that if you’re going to be at an event where you will be doing physical activity to wear a sports watch. Plan ahead, if you think you’re going to be playing a sport, wear the proper attire along as the proper sports watch. As a reminder, sports watches shouldn’t be worn with suits..
4. THE DRESS WATCH
With dress watches there is definitely more room to play with. A dress watch needn’t be the most expensive of your watches. Dress watches are for events that require semi-formal wear. What you should remember is to match the straps of your watch with your shoes and belt. You want to look well organized and matching the straps to your other attire will give you a coordinated sophisticated look.
